Selfie Definition
A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically one taken with a smartphone or webcam and shared via social media.
My opinion on selfies
I think this will be a difficult project for me because I don't usually take selfies so its outside my comfort zone but I'm prepared to go outside the box.
The history of photography
The first ever selfie was taken in 1839. While not termed as such then, the self-portrait was taken by Robert Cornelius, an amateur chemist and photography enthusiast, in Philadelphia.
Curating my exhibition of Vivian Maier
For the Vivian Maier exhibition I worked with D'shaun so at first we chose 14 photos that we thought stood out to the others, the reason I chose mine was because they were colourful unlike the rest of her photos. After we chose our photos we organised them in VM which are Vivian Maier's initials we done this because we thought it was unique. We wrote our opinions on Vivian Maier which were she's a very secretive person.
1. Me and D'shaun worked well as a team we agreed with every decisions
2. I shared my opinions on Vivian Maier
3.I think our presentation made good sense
4.I think it went well and I explained it well
5.picking the photos
6. I would write more facts instead of opinions

Adding on to selfie homework
For this project I wanted to go to places where I could take good photos with a nice background, so one day I went Greenwich Park. Then i googled top places in London for photography so i decided to go two of the places so I chose Canary Wharf Tunnel and St Pauls Cathedral taken from One new change. I decided to go these places with my mum and she took two of the photos with her camera (cannon 760D) .
1st photo: My first photo for my zine was selfie of me at One New Change. I enjoyed taking these photos because it shows a high view of St Pauls Cathedral and you can even see the shard. I think this photo is unique because it shows St Pauls from a different angle because i went up a lift and it took me up to a roof top where i could see St Pauls from a high di and normally people take photos of it on the ground. This photo was difficult to take because there was a lot of wind. This photo was taken on a iphone 6.
2nd photo: My second photo in my zine was a self portrait of me in Canary Wharf Tunnel, personally i really liked this photo because it had different angles, leading lines and lines of symmetry this also a well known spot for taking photos. The downside of taking photos here was that there were many people walking past so i had to be very patient and the weather was quite dull which meant the lighting wasn't as good. . This was taken on a cannon 760D.
3rd photo: My third photo on my zine was a panoramic selfie in Greenwich Park which included the National Maritime Museum which is a historic building. This a easy clear picture because it was a very sunny but there were still a lot of people who i had to wait for to move. This was taken on a iphone 6.
4th photo: My fourth photo was a self portrait of me near Tower Hamlets in Canary Wharf. I liked this photo because it shows a reflection of me on the water which shows creativity. I tried to do this by myself but unfortunately i couldn't see myself. The only downside to this photo is that the weather was dull which affected the lighting. This was taken on a cannon 760D.
5th photo: My fifth photo was a selfie of me at St Pauls Cathedral. This photo shows creativity because you can see the reflection St Pauls at the side of another building it also shows symmetry. This photo was easy to take but there were a lot a of people but i couldn't do anything about it. The this was taken a iphone 6.
6th photo: My sixth photo was a selfie of me reflected on a train. This photo is different to the other photos because it only shows a reflection of me, i have another photo with reflection but it also shows me and the reflection isn't to clear because of the lighting, but with this photo the reflection is clear on the train. This photo was relativity easy but i had to wait for the train and for other people to get off the train. This photo was taken on a iphone 6.
7th photo: My seventh photo was a selfie of me at Canary Wharf Tunnel. I like this photo because it shows the whole view of the tunnel it also shows symmetry within the walls and even the stream of light that goes down the tunnel. I like this photo because it kinda reminds me of a train track with the walls of symmetry and the way the tunnel is set out makes it look like a train track. This was taken on a iphone 6.
8th photo: My 8th photo was a selfie of my shadow. I chose this photo because it was my only shadow photo because it wasn't sunny the days that i went out. This was a difficult picture because the sun was out for a minute or 2. This was taken on a iphone 6.

Questions
A self-portrait is a representation of an artist that is drawn, painted, photographed, or sculpted by that artist.
To me, a selfie is a self taken photograph that is normally taken on a phone then normally shared on social media.
Personally i think selfies in the modern day are a lot different to self portraits back in the old days for example before the camera was invented in the old days a self portrait was normally a very serious painting of another person but now in the modern days people would take a selfie on their phone when they’re at the park or even at home, in the modern day for some people its normal to take one everyday.
Nicholas James Gentry is a British artist from London. Much of his artistic output has been generated with the use of materials.

Nick Gentry is a artist who paints his portraits on old floppy disks instead of a canvas. Like many people back in those days, he grew up with floppy disks, and cassettes tapes. His art delves into what kind of impact the new internet culture has on all of us.
For me to make a photo interesting there has to be a story behind the photo and why was it taken. Another thing that it could make it more interesting is to include different colours and patterns maybe on clothes buildings or something in the background of interest .

How To Make A Zine
Step 1: Fold your sheet of paper in half. Fold it again into quarters, and then one more time so that it is folded into eighths.
Step 2: Open your paper so that it is folded in half. Cut halfway across the middle from the fold. When you open your paper it should have a slit in the middle.
Step 3: Fold your paper lengthwise (along the crease that has the slit). Hold the paper at either end, then push the ends in toward each other. The sections should fold into each other to form an eight-page booklet.

Assessment
In Lee Friedlander's photo New Orleans there is a self portrait but with two types of reflections from a shop glass/mirror. You can tell because the window frame is visible at the edge of the image. In Lee Friedlander's there is a silhouette reflection which is a type of self portrait, as you can tell there is a reflection of Lee Friedlander and is the main subject. In this photo there are contrasts between light and dark . Francesca Woodman's photo is a very strange photo like the first one, you might not be able to tell but the photo is actually a selfie because if you look at the mysterious figure through the door at the bottom are Woodman's feet as Woodman seems to have a box on her. This photo is interesting to me because there are both straight and horizontal lines. To me Kenneth Josephson photo is intriguing because there seems to be 3 people a square figure in the middle and a car. This photo also includes a reflection.
In each photo there seems to be a variety of contrasts using both black and white but many different contrasts of each color. Every self portrait has the photographers face hidden in some sort of way. For example Lee Friedlander has used a reflection which blocks out his face with shade. Francesca Woodman put a box over herself only showing her feet and the bottom half of her legs and Kenneth Josephson shows his arm holding a photo and his reflection the car.
In Woodmans photo there are recognisable domestic space frames and unsettling staging figures and objects. That's why i think Francesca Woodman has been the most creative while making a self portrait. In my opinion Kenneth Josephson is the only person who has changed it up a bit by making the photo less gloomy compared to the other photographers. His approach to the photo has been an outside photo including many figures and a lot of reflection. I enjoyed looking at "from angel" series by Francesca Woodman because in the title it includes angles which you can't see and in the self portrait you can't see Francesca Woodman in the self portrait. This is why i believe it intrigues me the most out of the 3 photos. This piece of work could influence me in the future by connecting my photos with my titles.

Revision over summer holidays
Over the summer holidays I went to the Tate Modern on the South Bank in London. I chose to go to the Tate Modern because I heard that they have a wide range of art including photography exhibitions. On my journey to and from the Tate I came across various buildings with different shapes and unique street art which stood out to me and I thought would make a good photograph.
The photos were taken at Rye Harbour
These photos were taken in Crete in Greece
